  2. A little bit about South Hills Aquatics South Hills Aquatics was previously Titan Swim Team and established in 2002. We changed our name in 2015 to accommodate a larger area. We are a Coach Owned, Non-Profit Corporation that is responsible for carrying out the administrative duties of a swim team. South Hills Aquatics bases its team management and training philosophies in accordance to USA Swimming.

  6. Our Mission Statement South Hills Aquatics will provide training and development for team swimmers in the four competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. The SHAQ coaching staff believes there is a direct correlation between a swimmers dedication and success in the sport. The coaching staff tries to instill this maxim with each swimmer : hard work and attendance lead to swimming success. The SHAQ Staff also feels that swimming on a USA team should be an enjoyable experience. Swimmers make new friends, bolster their confidence, develop a spirit of camaraderie with teammates, and are introduced to values such as organization and self-discipline.

Accomplishments • Holiday Invite: 1st Place Team & Relay • Top six placing at AMS Junior Olympics • Top six placing at AMS Age Group Champs • Top ten placing at Pitt Christmas Meet • Top twelve ranked swimmers in Eastern US • AMS Eastern Zone qualifiers • WPIAL Medalists and Champions • PIAA Qualifiers and Medalists • HS Girls 4 X Section Champions • SHAQ/HS swimmers competing at college level

  8. Practice Schedule Practices are Monday though Thursday *depending on your group • Developmental: 5:00 – 6:00 • Age Group: 5:00 – 6:30 • Age Group AMS/JV: 5:00 - 6:30(7) • Varsity: 5:00 – 7:00 Dryland exercises begin at 5:00.-Come Stretched!!!!!

Parent/Coach Communication • Please allow the coaching staff to teach and coach your children the aspects of competitive swimming uninterrupted. • Parents who have questions for the SHAQ coaching staff are asked speak with a Parent Volunteer to set up a meeting with the coach before or after practice at the coaches earliest convenience. • Parents are also encouraged to use email for communication.

SHAQ Competition • Intra-Squad Meet (an opportunity to swim against your friends) • Time Trials(swimmers compete against other teams for event times) • AMS Invitational (swimmers compete against others of similar ability level) This also includes Championship meets. AMS membership required and there are also additional event fees required.

  11. USA-Allegheny Mountain Swimming • Provides competition opportunities for ALL levels of swimmers along with Championship events. • Zones opportunities to compete against swimmers from different areas of the country. • Great preparation for HS Swimming and exposure to college recruits. • Membership is required.

  12. In Closing I would like to thank each and every one of you who have helped SHAQ become the organization that it is today. Your support has given us a strong foundation to build upon. I also thank all of you new members for becoming a part of SHAQ and for helping us grow into one of the best teams in Allegheny Mountain Swimming.
