  2. Jim Marshall was born February 3, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois • He had no education • His work appears in publications and exhibits • His style is based on famous blues, rock, country, and folk musicians. He sees music rather then just hearing it • His influence is music • He was the chief photographer at Monterey pop festival and Woodstock, the only photographer with back stage access at The Beatles’ last concert, and the only person to get Janis Joplin and Grace Slick in the same frame

  3. The lighting in this photo is coming from very large lights in the stadium. The lighting for this photo is unique because the lights are really bright and the lights themselves add a nice effect to the background of the photo. The main subject of the photo is The Beatles walking. The background of the photo really adds to it because there are thousands of people behind them. I like this photo because it shows The Beatles getting ready for a huge show in front of thousands of people. The Beatles, Candlestick park, SF, 1966

  4. Jimi Hendrix, Monterey pop festival, 1967 The light is coming from the guitar that’s on fire in front of Jimi. Jimi burning his guitar is the main subject. It’s the most interesting thing in the photo. This is one of the most iconic images in rock history. Almost everybody has seen it before.

  5. Johnny Cash, San Quentin Prison, 1970 The lighting in this photo is coming from above Johnny. The main subject of the photo is the middle finger. You’re eye is automatically drawn to it. I like the way the photo is composed. The hand is in the front and appears to be larger then the head. I really like this photo because it shows Johnny Cash being a bad ass.

  6. Keith Richards, Recording for Exile on Main street, 1972 The lighting is artificial. It seems to be all around him but that could just be because he’s Keith frickin’ Richards. Keith is the main subject of the photo. I really like this photo. It shows an iconic rock star getting in to what ever he’s playing while kicking back with a cigarette. To me that is just the ultimate rock star look.

  7. Jimi Hendrix, Monterey pop festival, 1967 The lighting is coming from above Jimi. It makes it look like a ray of sun is breaking through the clouds and shining down on him. This picture shows Jimi being the rock star that he is. It looks like he’s really feeling what he’s playing and like he’s having fun.
