USDA Memo SP 10-2012 (v9) Q&As on Final Rule “Nutrition Standards in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs” In addition to minor changes throughout the document, such as removal of outdated questions, there are three new questions related to (1) use of bulk and portion packs of roasted legumes may be used in school meals, (2) water not being allowed to be offered in place of milk, and (3) use of CN labels with watermarks.

  6. USDA Memo SP 42-2015 Service of Tradition Foods in Public Facilities This memo gives guidance on using donated traditional foods in public and nonprofit facilities, including tribal facilities. This memo explains what the responsibilities for the program operators are or SFAs accepting a donation of these foods: Wild Game Meat, Fish, Seafood, Marine Mammals, Plants, and Berries

Equipment Preapproval Process Updates • The list of preapproved equipment has been updated to include food service delivery vehicles • If other departments share the use of the vehicle, the dollars taken from Fund 50 should be prorated to reflect less than 100% use • Find the updated list on the SNT website Procurement Page, look for Equipment Purchase -Prior Approval May Be Needed in the list of topics on the left • Questions contact Kathryn Lederhause, RDN, CD Phone#: 608-267-9174

  12. 2015 USDA Equipment Grant • Application letter to be released September 8 -sent to Authorized Representatives • Due date for grant application is 12/04/15 • Application materials and reference material will be posted on the SNT website under Grant Opportunities, USDA Equipment Grant • Priority is the schools where enrollment is ≥ 50% free and reduced AND they did not receive funds for equipment in 2009 ARRA, 2010 or 2014 USDA equipment grants
