  2. CED Role…… • Assist agent in developing components of a good Extension program • Encourage participation of working with peers • Annually give constructive feedback • Assist in reviewing draft documents • Assist in identifying references

  3. DED Role…… • Outline what is expected in a packet during the first mentoring activities • Provide training during the first year • Provide constructive feedback during annual appraisals • Give guidance with a Permanent Status Progress Assessment – 3 year packet

  4. DED Role…… • Provide for District training after five successful appraisals • Set timelines for the process

Timelines for Promotion Packets • Extension District Deadlines for Promotion, Permanent Status and Mid-Career Packets 2007 •  January 18th District Promotion workshop (DED inserts date for the district) • March 23rd First Draft for Agents completing a Mid-Career Assessment (3-Year packet) • March 30th Regular Promotion Packets First Draft due to your DED work with your DED on the process • June 4th Final version of all Mid-Career Assessment packets due to DED, 15 copies double-sided • (due to Personnel on July 10, 2007- 15 copies double-sided) • May 25 Final Draft due to your DED office (nothing accepted after this date) • 10 = Suggested names, address and bio information of • references due to DED from Agent, out of state important (DEDs will request letters) • * Bio references to include: name, title, (4-5 sentences) narrative about the individual, not how you know them • June 8thCED and DED comments on Final Draft due back to agent • June 22ndFinal version of Packet due in your DED office (do not duplex) • Contact your DED for dates and number needed • June 25th DED will send request for Letters for References (reference letters must be returned by July 20, 2007) • August 1stPackets mailed to counties for review and voting • August 24thAll votes due to individual DED offices, • (“abstain” or “did not vote” not acceptable) • September 1stOne copy without unit votes or letters of evaluation to Personnel Office • September 17th DED Reference Letter to be completed • October 1st FinalPackets Due to Personnel Office • 15 complete duplexed copies • IFAS Committee copies (10 IFAS + 6 V/P, Personnel, DED) • December 11th Original and 2 copies due to Personnel Office

  6. DED Role…… • Assist agents in reviewing drafts • Assist agents in identifying reviewers • Send packet to reviewers • Send packet to District Peers for voting • Assist agent in preparing packet for IFAS Promotion Committee • Work with agent on recommendations from the IFAS Promotion Committee
