  2. What? • Development of increased co-operation between countries and actors bordering the Baltic Sea in the transport field, focusing on maritime transport in a wider sense. www.sai.se

  3. Who? • Planning authorities • Regulators and legislators • Operators, public and private, maritime as well as on land. www.sai.se

  4. How? • The work will be divided into 5 Work Packages. www.sai.se

  5. Why? • Increased co-operation between all relevant institutions and companies in the region will not only lead to more equal opportunities and better welfare for all but also to a healthier environment when traffic moves more smoothly and rules and regulations as well understood. www.sai.se

  6. BalMarNet work package overview • Year 1 - focus on producing results in WP 1, and 3 • Year 2 focus on production of results in WP 2 • Year 3 - focus on producing results in WP 5 • Year 1-3 communication and dissemination of results www.sai.se

  7. WP 1 • Benchmarking exercise where relevant facts like present traffic status, rules and regulations are established for each area. • The result will be a report "Baltic Maritime Outlook", which is a follow-up on a report by the same name from 2000. www.sai.se

  9. WP 2 • Scenarios will be developed to test the impact of various possible future trade and policy changes. www.sai.se

WP 3 • Establish procedures for the collection of relevant data to be included in the databases that the project will establish. • Focus on relevant and comparable data between countries and modes of transport to make data useful for planning purposes, public as well as commercial. www.sai.se

  11. WP 4 • A wide range of means of dissemination to spread the results and, if possible, receive comments from institutions and persons not directly involved in the project. www.sai.se

  12. WP 5 • Testing the results by running a number of pilot cases determined during the course of the project. • Determine the strategic implications of the work in the whole project. www.sai.se

Objectives (1) • Increase knowledge, exchanges of views and transparency of maritime transport and port operations in the region. • Working together to develop an efficient transport system supporting sustainable economic growth based on implementation and enforcement of internationally agreed safety and environmental standards. www.sai.se
