CTCN FUNCTIONS Main functions: • Manage requests from developing countries NDE • and deliver responses • Foster collaboration and access to information and • knowledge to accelerate climate technology transfer • Strengthen networks, partnerships and capacity • building for climate technology transfer • Supported by outreach and awareness activities and a good knowledge management system 4

CONSORTIUM EXPERTISE Breadth and depth of expertise and experience in: • adaptation and mitigation, along all steps of the technology cycle • specific technology subject areas • geographic understanding and language capabilities • expertise in knowledge management • network development and management 6

  6. CTCN INSTITUTIONAL SETUP Core Centre co-managed by UNEP and UNIDO, backed by “technical resource pool” of consortium partners Main support provided through the Network 7

NATIONAL DESIGNATED ENTITIES • Focal point for CTCN activities at the national level Ensuring requests are based on national circumstances and priorities Coordinating with relevant ministries, focal points for other UNFCCC mechanisms, and the private sector, civil society, and academia to ensure CTCN services provide the best value to the country • Nominations requested by UNFCCC Secretariat • Some countries seeking guidance in selecting their NDE • Consultations and training activities for NDEs are planned Good NDEs are essential for a well functioning CTCN! 8

CTCN REQUESTS • The ideal request to the CTCN: • Will help create conditions for improved climate technology transfer service delivery • Benefits from political commitment and is consistent with national sustainable development strategies (NDPs, PRSPs, LEDS, NAPAs…) • Is linked to national investment plans and will unlock public or private sector investment 12
