  2. Birth of Thomas Jefferson • Born in April 13,1743 • His parents were Peter Jefferson and Jane Randolph • Father was a surveyor, planter, and officeholder

  3. Jefferson Early life • He was the third of eight children • His family moved Tuckahoe for seven years then moved back • He learned to speak Greek, French, and Latin

  4. Adulthood • In 1770 his home was destroyed in a fire • He began studying at the college of William and Mary • In 1772 he married Martha Wayles Skelton

  5. Revolutionary War • Served as a representative and worked with John Adams and Benjamin Franklin

  6. President • In 1804 he bought 2,144,520 square kilometers of land • President Thomas owned a slaves

  7. Inventions • Thomas created the first American dumbwaiter • Thomas also invented the polygraph • Another invention was device that opened two

  8. Death • Jefferson was buried in his hometown Shadwell, Virginia • He wanted to be known for all his deeds
