  1. Ethnicity/Race Code Changes Fall 2009

  2. Summary: RACE/ETHNICITY MODIFICATIONS • Modifications will be made in response to the Higher Education Opportunity Act passed August 14, 2008, that requires all postsecondary institutions to collect and report data on race and ethnicity in a substantially different manner than previously reported. Changes include: • Values in the Ethnic Group fields • New race/ethnicity reporting fields in Student and HR Administration data sets and their related BusinessObjects universes

  3. How government uses reporting codes • The Department of Labor and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs regularly conduct audits of federal contractors to ensure that the contractors comply with nondiscrimination and affirmative action laws and regulations when doing business with the federal government. • The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is the core postsecondary education data collection program for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
