  1. RECENT TRENDS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

  2. Introduction English language teaching (ELT) has used a long time ago. But, ELT trends that were very popular in the past have vanished today and have been substituted by others. So, Language teaching in the twentieth century underwent a lot of changes and innovations.

  3. In the past ten years, there are 4 important factors have combined to affect current perspectives on the teaching of English: • The decline of methods, • A growing emphasis on both of up and bottom skill. • The creation of new knowledge about English and, • Integrated and contextualized teaching of multiple language skills.

  4. What is technology? The term “technology” refers to advancements in the methods and tools we use to solve problems or achieve a goal.

  5. Teaching with technology Generally every type of language teaching has its own technologies to maintain it.

  6. Example: Grammar-Translation Method (GTM) The technology that they use in this method is blackboard and the blackboard was later supplemented by the overhead projector Drill-and-Practice the audio-tape was the perfect medium for the audio-lingual method

  7. Why we use technology for teaching? Because: • It helps students to learn • It helps teachers to teach differentiate instruction, personalize learning, monitor students, motivate students, develop curriculum, communicate and collaborate with others • students have grown up in a world filled with technology. The information is received fast, and instant.

  8. How to use technology in meaningful? • The pedagogical integration of technology in which they are placed for practicum experiences; • The future teacher’s degree of computer literacy; • The pedagogical integration of technology by instructors during university education of future teachers; • A future teacher’s expectations of success in integrating technology; • The value placed on technology by future teachers

  9. Conclusion • In this case, there are pro and contra about teaching with technology. Because in every technology there are their own advantage and disadvantage. • But it’s up to the teacher how to teach in creative way. • Teacher also must build communication between student- teacher and student- student.
