  2. PRESENT STATUS • Quantity of Member: 43 • 25 ISPs. • 18 multihoming organisations • Number of IPv4 Address: 6.63 Millions (0.395 /8) • Number of IPv6 prefix: 27 • Hostmaster team: 03 IP hostmasters

MAJOR ACTIVITIES IN 2008 AND EARLY 2009. • Held remote participation for APNIC 26 with 30 participants from our members attending. • Held 2008 Annual Member Meeting in May with more than 50 participants. • With the presentation from Mr Sunny of APNIC. • Launch web portal that support VNNIC member to manage their IPv4 –v6 allocation/assignment space online. Address http://ipmember.vnnic.vn and will be soon apply with https.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES IN 2008 AND EARLY 2009 • IPv6 support for .VN . • Publish IPv6 book by Vietnamese language. • Held 4 IPv6 training courses for members. • Viettel (ISP). • SPT (ISP) • 2 free training courses for members. • Launched Viet nam IPv6 portal at www.ipv6.vn (just only have Vietnamese Language ).

Since 2004: • Information update; Published books and documentations about IPv6. • IPv6 training courses. • Give reports and propose IPv6 deployment policies to the MIC. • Setup VNNIC’s IPv6 network. Make the VNIX available with IPv6 for the members to connect. • Project to deploy IPv6 in the national DNS infrastructure.

Result: • The attention of the government • In May 2008, The Minister of Information and Telecommunications promulgated the directions on IPv6 deployment and promotion in Vietnam. • Request ISP and other organisation to quikly deploy IPv6. Vietnamese ISP are requested to connect to VNIXv6 to form national IPv6 network. • In January 2009, the Vietnamese IPv6 Task Force was formed. • Headed by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications. • VNNIC’s director is vice-chairman • ISPs’ awareness of the importance of IPv6 deployment in their network.

Conduct a survey for VNNIC member that focus on: - The training and resource requirement - The readiness on IPv6 - The readiness on ASN 4byte • Hold VNNIC annual member meeting 2009 in early of June. • Host an APNIC training course base on the member requirements. • IPv6: Promote IPv6 deployment in Vietnam through IPv6 Task Force’s activities.
