Changing Final y to i • If the base word ends with the lettery, to make it plural you may have to change the yto i and then add -es. • If the base word ends with the letter y, to make it past tense you may have to change the y to i and then add -ed. For example: bunnies- dried- bunny, dry, change y to i, add -es change the y to i, add -ed

  3. cities(city,y to i, +es) Many people live in big cities.

  4. cried(cry,y to i, +ed) The boy cried when he broke his favorite toy.

  5. puppies(puppy,y to i, +es) I want to take all of these puppies home!

  6. hurried(hurry,y to i, +ed) The man hurried because he was late to work.

  7. stories (story,y to i, +es) • The children love listening to his stories. • This house is three stories tall.

  8. flies (fly,y to i, +es) When an eagle flies, it looks amazing!

  9. parties (party,y to i, +es) Birthday parties are always fun!

  10. tried (try,y to i, +ed) She tried to pick up the pumpkin, but it was too heavy.
