  1. NOTHING BETTER THAN FELLOWSHIP Can you think of anything?

  2. Some think that salvation means making Heaven and missing Hell, as if its all about final destination. Instead of using Heaven as the appeal, why not offer the Kingdom of God, like Jesus did? Why not describe the new creation, and the born again fellowship of the redeemed?

  3. What does that fellowship look like? Acceptance Rest Forgiveness Adventure Love Challenge Joy Healing Peace Truth Fun Health Balance Healing

  4. Acts 2:41-42 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand people were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

  5. 1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

  6. What could any group of people accomplish with those attributes? What can the church do with these attributes…. with Holy Spirit power added to it?

  7. Christians tend to treat these scriptures as utopic language with unrealistic goals…or its just flat impossible. • What do you think…reality or impossible?

  8. 1 Corinthians 1:10 • Speak the same thing (lego) • No divisions (schismata). • Perfectly joined together . • Same mind. • Same judgment.

  9. 1 Corinthians 1:10 Which one of these five things would you say is impossible to do? Which of the five is unrealistic?

  10. 1 Corinthians 1:10 The Bible says we have the mind of Christ….if we choose to use it…that’s the key to every New Testament commandment.

  11. 1 Corinthians 1:10 New Testament means “new covenant.” The new covenant is for new creatures. Unity, love, humility, Spirit-filled is ordinary thinking for people of the new covenant.

  12. Philippians 2:2-3 1 If there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

  13. The 4 if’s from Phil 2:1-3 1. If there is any consolation in Christ. 2. if any comfort of love. 3. if any fellowship of the Spirit. 4. if any affection and mercy.

  14. Since we have these things… • Be like-minded. • Have the same love. • Be of one accord. • Not selfish or conceited. • Lowliness of mind. • Count others better than yourself.

  15. 1 john 1:6-7 6 If we claim a relationship with Christ, but walk in darkness, we are a livng a lie. 7 But if we walk in the light like Jesus, we have fellowship with one another, because He’s doing the same thing in each one of us—cleansing us from all sin through the blood of Jesus. (henton paraphrase)

  16. What is darkness? • Hypocrisy—saying one thing, doing another. • Professing Christ, but looking down on others for whom Christ died. • Self-reliance. • Refusal to bring one’s sin to the light..

  17. What is light? • Truth. • Love of God. • Love of others. • Wisdom. • Humility.

  18. So, let’s end with the original question, which is the subtitle of this sermon…. Is there anything better than this kind of fellowship???
