  13. all we have and all we have accomplished is because of you. In our selfishness, our hears become so ungrateful that we forget to give you thanks for what you have done for each of us.

  14. Please hear us this day as we confess our sinfulness, our arrogance, and our selfishness. Accept our broken hearts and cleanse them. Help us to remember to give you thanks and praise each day, Mighty God.

  15. (silence is observed for reflection and prayer)

  16. ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Friends, please know that we serve a loving, merciful God who forgives those who confess. In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, you are forgiven.

  17. ASSURANCE OF PARDON P: With grateful hearts we accept your forgiveness, and with gratitude we say: Amen!

  22. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing. Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

  23. and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures for ever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

  24. SCRIPTURE READING: Acts 27:21-25;33-38

  25. Since they had been without food for a long time, Paul then stood up among them and said, ‘Men, you should have listened to me and not have set sail from Crete and thereby avoided this damage and loss. I urge you now to keep up your courage, for therewill be no loss oflife among you,

  26. but only of the ship. For last night there stood by me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, and he said, “Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before the emperor; and indeed, God has granted safety to all those who are sailing with you.”

  27. So keep your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told. Just before daybreak, Paul urged all of them to take some food, saying, ‘Today is the fourteenth day that you have been in suspense and remain without food, having eatennothing.

  28. Therefore I urge you to take some food, for it will help you survive; for none of you will lose a hair from your heads.’ After he had said this, he took bread; and giving thanks to God in the presence of all, he broke it and began to eat. Then all of them wereencouraged andtook food forthemselves.

  29. (We were in all two hundred and seventy-six persons in the ship.) After they had satisfied their hunger, they lightened the ship by throwing the wheat into the sea. L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!
