CHILDREN’S SECTION – Children’s entries are FREE • Class • A Coloured Picture – Myself • A Robot, made from recycled material 8-9 YEARS • Handwriting GENERAL INFORMATION Entries should be on the official form included with this schedule. Additional schedules and entry forms, if required, are available from Thursby Post Office. Any questions regarding entries, please contact Mrs Eileen Wilson, Tel: 016973 42693 The completed forms should be handed in to Miss Jo Dancer, Holly Lodge, Thursby, not later than Wednesday 4th September. All fees should be paid at the time of entry (see rule 7) The show is open to all ages and our aim every year is to increase entries in all sections by welcoming new and existing exhibitors. Please help to support by entering and encouraging friends and neighbours to participate. All prize money will be paid on Show Day. Auction of Entries After the success of the sale in 2012 we would again like to invite you to donate your entries for sale at the end of the show. If you would be willing to offer any of your entries for sale, to boost show funds for next year, please indicate by ticking the entry on your form. Many thanks. RULES • All exhibits must be the work of the Exhibitor and must not have been shown previously at this show; they must have been made in the last three years. • Exhibits are to be staged between 9.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. AND MUST BE REMOVED BETWEEN 4.00 p.m. and 4.30 p.m., during which time prize money will be paid. • Labels must be collected on arrival and attached to exhibits by Exhibitors. • Exhibitors must provide their own plate, vases, etc, for all classes. • No person, except the authorised personnel will be allowed in the Hall during the judging of exhibits. • Entries limited to one entry per person in class. • Entry fees – 40p per entry – Children’s classes are FREE – see Children’s section in the schedule. • Prizes: 1st = £3, 2nd = £2 and 3rd = £1, unless otherwise stated. No prize will be awarded unless entries pronounced of sufficient merit. • In adult classes, only exhibitors who reside within a ten mile radius of the Parish Hall will qualify for the Challenge Cups and Trophies and Special Section prizes. • In the event of a tie, the cup will go to the exhibitor with the most first places. • The committee cannot hold itself responsible for loss or damage to any exhibit and/or container. • The decisions of the judges will be final. • Scoring for Trophies 1st = 3 points, 2nd= 2 points and 3rd = 1point. • The submitting of an entry by an Exhibitor will be regarded as an acknowledgment and an agreement to the foregoing rules. • CHILDREN’S SECTION – Children’s entries are FREE • The winner of each class, in the Children's section, will receive a Shield • Class • PRE-SCHOOL • Painting of Bugs 4-5 YEARS • Handwriting Mrs Down Went to town With her face Painted brown. • Painting - My Favourite Food 6-7 YEARS • Handwriting Everybody Says Everybody says I look just like my mother. Please state size on form including frame if mounted • A Peg Bag • A Scarf, any medium • Christmas Decoration, any medium • An item of Jewellery • An Un-mounted Photograph, ‘Flower Garden’, not to exceed 7” x 5” • An Un-mounted Photograph, with Caption, not to exceed 7” x 5” The Shaw Wood Challenge Trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the exhibitor who attains the highest total points in classes 53-60 The Willis Challenge Trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the exhibitor who attains the highest total points in classed 61 - 62 • SCHEDULE OF CLASSES • HORTICULTURAL SECTION • FLOWERS AND PLANTS • Class • Foliage Plant • Flowering Plant • Four Fresh Herbs in a Tumbler • A Vase of Cut Garden Flowers to include a minimum of three distinct kinds • Three Asters • Three Dahlias, any variety • One Stem Gladioli • Three Stems of one variety of Annual • Small Bowl of Marigolds • Seven Sweet Pea Stems • One Specimen Rose • ‘Cactus Garden’ not to exceed 12” x 8” • Decorative Planter, any medium (to be displayed outside) The Denis Robinson Challenge Trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the exhibitor who attains the highest total points in classes 1-13

FLORAL ART SECTION • Class • An Exhibit in a Wine Glass, arrangement not to exceed 8" • A Modern Design using five red flowers and foliage, space allowed 15" • Arrangement of Foliage, space allowed 18" • ‘Autumn Gold’, exhibit using flowers and fresh foliage, space allowed 20" The Wheeler Challenge Trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the exhibitor who attains the highest total points in classes 14-17 • A Table Arrangement, not to exceed 10” x 10” – class open to anyone who has not won a prize in the Floral Art Section in the last five years. • PRESERVES • Class • One Jar Marmalade – any kind • One Jar Blackcurrant Jam • One Jar Jam, any other variety • Small Glass Dish Rum Butter • Small Jar Lemon Curd (should not be less than 8oz) • Jar Chutney • A Bottle of Liquor The Watson Challenge Trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the exhibitor who attains the highest total points in classes 34-45 The Martin Challenge Trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the winner of class 44 The Fairfield Challenge Trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the exhibitor who attains the highest total points in classes 46-52

COOKERY AND PRESERVES • COOKERY • Class • Three Plain Tea Cakes made from Carrs Flour, Empty Bag Must Accompany Entry * • A Tea Bread • Three Cherry Scones • A Savoury Flan, approximately 8” • Victoria Sandwich, approximately 8”, to be baked in one tin • Three Sausage Rolls • Three squares of Gingerbread • Lemon Meringue Pie, approximately 8” • Apple Plate Cake • Three Cup Cakes • MALE ENTRY ONLY – Three Pieces of Flapjack • An Individual Summer Sweet * Carrs flour can be purchased from; Lakeland, Sainsbury’s, Co-op or Booths and Thursby Post Office • FRUIT AND VEGETABLES • Class • Three Tomatoes • Four Cherry Tomatoes • Three Dessert Apples • Three Cooking Apples • Three Plums • Saucer of soft fruit, any variety • Three Potatoes • Three Beetroot • Three Runner Beans • Three Gherkins – Sponsored by the Gardening Club • A bowl of fresh salad, five whole items • Three Onions • Three Carrots • Three Courgettes • Collection of Four Vegetables, one of each variety, not to include tomatoes The Donaldson Challenge Trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the exhibitor who attains the highest total points in classes 19-33

If you would be willing to offer any of your entries for sale, for show funds, please indicate by ticking the entry on your form. New for 2013 Games and activities for the children. Something to keep them entertained while you look round the show and enjoy tea and homemade cake! Entries must be received by the Entry Secretary by Wednesday 4th September.
