Figuring Gross Words a MinuteGWAM • Every 5 letters, punctuation marks, numbers, symbols, and spaces equals 1 word. • Divide the total number of words keyed by the number of minutes you were timed. • Example: you keyed a total of 245 words in a 5 minute timing. • Divide 245 by 5 and your GWAM is 49.
