  1. Taking Care of Dings On Your Surfboard: DIY Steps To Repair A Ding! Most of you might think that being a surfer is all about the time being spent in the water and knowing how to balance. Well, that’s where you all are wrong as being a surfer also means knowing about the basics of surfboard repair, especially when it comes to fixing a ding. Dings are one of the most common issues that surfers have with their surfboards, especially beginners. However, even the much experienced and professional surfers, due to regular use, have to deal with repairing dinged surfboards quite often. You might ask why you, as a surfer, should need to learn how to repair a ding when there are repair specialists whose job it is to fix your surfboard. Well, you wouldn’t want to waste your time and money going to a specialist just to fix or repair a minor ding. By learning and doing it on your own, you not only save your money but also all the hassles of waiting for weeks to get your surfboard fixed. The following are some important steps to fixing minor dings on your surfboard by yourself. Purchase the necessary supplies: There are various ding repair kits available in the market these days. You can either choose to purchase one of those or buy the following supplies one by one, whatever is convenient to you: oSandpaper oFiberglass cloth oSafety mask and goggles oKnife oWax comb oMasking tape oPaintbrush oAlcohol cleaning wipes oPatches Get rid of the damaged area: If it’s a new ding, you might want to wait for a while to let the board dry. But if the ding has been there for quite a while now, you should check and remove the damaged area. Clean and sand the affected area: This is the step where you are supposed to use the wax comb to remove any remaining wax. Once you have gotten it all cleaned up, you can gently sand the area around the ding and make it smooth and free of any sharp surfaces. Use the cleaning wipe: Next, you would want to thoroughly clean the damaged part of your surfboard with the alcohol cleaning wipes, and make sure that you clean the area keeping in mind the size of the patch. Apply the patch: For the next step, you should peel the backer from the patch and apply the sticky side on top of the ding to make sure that there are no trapped air bubbles.

  2. Peel the facing from the patch: Now, peel the facing from the patch that you just applied to the ding. Then, there you go, your surfboard as good as new again.
