  2. Dillon Kim traveled through Alaska and Canada after he graduated from high school. After he returned to California, he enrolled in trade school and became an HVAC repair specialist. When he was forty-eight years old, he decided to return to school to pursue his dream of becoming a computer engineer. Engineering is a broad and complex professional that can be applied to a number of different fields and industry.

  3. If you are interested in engineering, you may need to build a background in mathematics and science. As an engineer, algebra and calculus will be extremely helpful. Throughout your career, you will need to use equations to solve mathematical problems. Engineers are professionals who use math to construct and build within several industries. Engineers design buildings as well as computers, software programs, electrical circuits, and more. They help innovate technology and find new ways to create structures.

  4. If you are interested in becoming an engineer, you may need to earn several degrees. An undergraduate degree can help you get started as an engineer, however, if you want to advance your career, you may need to earn at least a master’s degree. There are several career opportunities for trained engineers and many opportunities for career growth.

  5. Kim chose to become an engineer and a software programmer. After he earned his degree, he used his education to co-create a mobile dating app in Austin, Texas. Dillon Kim is the head programmer for the app, and is excited to continue to create software for mobile apps.
