  2. After today….. • Set up RefWorks account • Import references • Create references manually • Generate and format bibliography • Share RefWorks folders

  3. What is RefWorks?? • Bibliographic citation management software • Format bibliography in a variety of styles • Web-based • Free • Reliable

  4. Set-up RefWorks

  5. Use your Western e-mail address

  6. Log into RefWorks Off campus: RWUWestOnt

  7. YOUR TURN • Set-up RefWorks account • Use your UWO email address • Use a combination username and password that is different than your UWO username and password

  8. Import References • Western Libraries Catalogue • Research Databases • Manually

  9. Add records from the catalogue • From the catalogue record • Click on RefWorks image

  19. YOUR TURN • Import a book from the shared catalogue • Make a folder (TRYIT) • Move to folder • Create a bibliography

Add many records from Catalogue • Mark records in catalogue • View marked records • Send saved records (MARC format) • Select & copy sent records • OpenRefWorks and select IMPORT • Select import parameters and PASTE • Import • ViewLast Imported folder • Move to folder TRYIT • Create Bibliography and EDIT

  32. Add article citations from database • Go to appropriate database (Library Literature, LISTA, Scholars Portal) • Three basic steps each time: • Search for items • Mark items of interest • Export marked records to RefWorks
