Problem • More elderly people= greater need for care providers • Fewer young people= fewer care providers • Insufficient capacity in rest and care homes Solution • Offer the elderly the possibility to remain independent at home longer by offering tailored technology and functions Leonardo ENERGY www.leonardo-energy.org

Basis of technology • Installation of an integrated home system • New constructions: • Appropriate cabling installed • Renovations: • Additional cabling via cable channels during renovation • Using the PowerLine system in addition to the existing 230V cables • Personal alarm system (PAS) provided • Electronic door lock provided (without traditional key) Leonardo ENERGY www.leonardo-energy.org

Basic functions • Is the resident at home or not? • When at home: • Heating to comfort level • Ventilation to comfort level • All other functions can be carried out • When not at home: • Heating to night-time level • Ventilation at reduced level • All lights except anti-intruder lights turned off • Cooking appliances and plug sockets switched off • TV and radio turned off • Roll-down shutters closed after sunset Leonardo ENERGY www.leonardo-energy.org

Basic functions • Daytime state or sleep state? • Daytime state: • Heating to comfort level • Ventilation to comfort level • All other functions can be carried out • Sleep state: • Heating to night-time level • Ventilation in reduced operation • All lights except safety lighting turned off • Cooking appliances and selected plug sockets switched off • TV and radio turned off • Roll-down shutters closed after sunset Leonardo ENERGY www.leonardo-energy.org

Basic functions • Light path to the bathroom • Switch next to the bed • Switching on results in: • Bedroom light switched on at 50% to 100% • Landing light switched on at 70% to 100% • Bathroom light on at 100% • Pressing the same button again results in: • All lighting in the light path switches off Leonardo ENERGY www.leonardo-energy.org

Basic functions • The cooking button (with feedback light) • Switching it on results in: • Kitchen light turns on • Kitchen plug sockets provided with current • Stove, oven and microwave connected to current • Pressing the same button again results in: • Kitchen lights going out • Kitchen plug sockets deactivated, except for the refrigerator/freezer • Power to stove, oven and microwave disconnected Leonardo ENERGY www.leonardo-energy.org

Basic functions • Safety in the kitchen • Presence detector in the kitchen: • Only works when the kitchen switch has been activated • Switches off the kitchen plug sockets, stove, oven and microwave when no presence is detected in the kitchen for longer than the pre-programmed time period (depending upon the physical/cognitive capabilities of the resident) Leonardo ENERGY www.leonardo-energy.org
