  1. Lasa Circuit Rider Programme “ICT intermediaries providing technology competence development and support to Not For Profit groups”

  2. Evidencing the need • First….NGO’s technology needs • Evidence shows that small NGO’s are not thinking strategically about technology usage in meeting their mission • Then…..Circuit Rider intervention • Collaborative services that support the NGO in planning, procuring and maintaining technology

  3. Do small NGO’s need the service that Circuit Riders can offer? • ICT is essential to the work that organisations carry out: • general administration; to mission delivery; from membership databases; online engagement; fundraising and reporting to convergence with phone systems. • ICT is expensive and complex: • small NGOs often don't have the technical, managerial or strategic capacity in-house to support and develop their ICT systems.

  4. The Role of a Circuit Rider • Long-term strategic and technical ICT intervention by Circuit Riders will: • Increase the digital competence of small to medium-sized not-for-profit organisations to sustainably manage and support their ICT systems. • Enable organisations to make more effective use of funding received for ICT equipment and projects. • Assist organisations to develop strategies to improve their services through the effective use of ICT.

  5. Awareness and knowledge of the VCS and VCOs in general and specifically, related to ICT issues, business systems, etc. Consulting competency related to communication, facilitation, assessment and planning and project scoping. Hands-on ICT skills related to infrastructure auditing, tool purchasing, installation, maintenance, etc. What digital competencies are needed?

  6. The Circuit Rider Cycle

  7. Outcome and Impact • A rolling programme of intermediary training that supports e-inclusion of excluded communities • Support for small NGO’s by trained Circuit Riders • Small NGO’s are better able to meet their mission of delivery with improved technology

  8. To conclude • Successful track record in integration of migrant communities • Experience of organising isolated ICT workers such as the Circuit Rider Community through events and conferences, e-list. • Trusted knowledgebase of resources and intelligence for capacity building • The Circuit Riding methodology is both scalable and transferable to Europe • epractice.eu/en/cases/lasacr
