  1. Boosting Conversion Rates Using Goals in Analytics Most of the lead generation websites struggle with conversions (whether it is a customer, new lead, or a subscriber to your newsletter). Before any conversion is initiated, you need to set up ‘goals’ to see how the audience reacts to and engages with your website. Matching the goals of your webpage with the incoming visitors could simultaneously lower the bounce rates of the visitors and increase your web page's conversion rates. Why is setting up goals considered as important? Analytics goals matter because you’d want to see the visitors completing the tasks that you wish them to complete whether it is their buying books online or your increasing visitors to newsletter subscribers. Also, set up goals to increase web conversions; suppose you have an e- Commerce webpage, then the analytics would not only show you the final transaction of the visitors but also the micro conversions that led the visitors to the path of the macro conversion. It is extremely important to study such micro conversions to understand the visitors’ behaviours regarding your website. This is because about 90% of the visitors won’t stay throughout the entire purchasing process, hence, if you ask 100 users about their reason for not completing their transactions, you’d discover that a major part of them are still in the researching process. Some of them would be your competitors, some would be past-buyers and a few others would be the ones who have actually come for the purchase. Setting up goals in analytics Firstly, from your Google Analytics account, go to the admin menu and select the ‘New Goal’ option. The following steps would give you an insight into how to set up goals in analytics:

  2. Setting goals from a template: in order to create a goal from an available template, firstly select ‘Template’ from your goal setup and then click ‘Next’ to set up your goal. Templates are the simplest goal setting procedures providing pre-defined business objectives to align with matching goals. Create custom goals: under the setup of the goal, click on the ‘Custom’ option and choose from the four different types of goals that are available. Verdict on the business goals Goals in Analytics give you an excellent insight of the track of your most important KPIs and how far you’re reaching your business goals. Plus, with the goal value feature of Google Analytics, you would be digging yourself a goldmine. Goals and goal values could come in extremely handy to understand the micro conversions of your business.
