Advanced Word Lesson 4 Index and Tables -- Index Tab • This tab sets up indexes from index marks in the text • Insert a page break to provide a place for the index • Choose Insert, then select Index and Tables. Click the “Index” tab • Select a format from the box on the left, and a number of columns on • the right,then click “OK” • If nothing happens, you haven’t inserted any index marks! Format Columns 3

  4. Advanced Word Lesson 4 Creating Indexes • Highlight the word (or words) to be added to the index • Press Shift + Alt + X to bring up the Mark Index Entry dialog box • Click the “Mark” button or “Mark All” button to add to the index 4

  5. Advanced Word Lesson 4 Subentries in the Index • To create a subentry, cut the word from the “Main entry” box • and paste it in the “Subentry” box. Advanced Word Lesson 4 Index and Tables -- Table of Contents Tab • This tab sets up a table of contents (TOC) from headings in the text • Insert a page break to provide a place for the TOC • Choose Insert, then select Index and Tables. Click the “Table of • Contents” tab • Select a format from the box on the left, and select a level and a tab • leader from the boxes on the right, then click “OK” Format Levels, Tab Leader 6

Advanced Word Lesson 4 Index and Tables -- Table of Authorities Tab • This tab sets up legal case citations • Citations must be set up beforehand • Insert a page break to provide a place for the index • Choose Insert, then select Index and Tables. Click the “Table of • Authorities” tab • Select a format from the box on the left, then click “OK” Format Tab Leader 8

Advanced Word Lesson 4 Creating Citations • Highlight the long version of the citation to be added to the table • Press Shift + Alt + I to bring up the Mark Citation dialog box • The citation appears in the “Selected text” box. Format it as you • want it to appear in the table • type the short version of the citation in the “Short citation” box • Click the “Mark” button or “Mark All” button to add to the table Selected Text Short Version 9

  11. Advanced Word Lesson 4 Word Art • Choose Insert, then select Picture; click on Word Art • Select the Word Art style that suits your presentation and click “OK” Select 11

  12. Advanced Word Lesson 4 Word Art • The Word Art text dialog appears • Select the font, size, and style (bold, italic) • Highlight and replace “Your Text Here” with desired text • Use the Word Art Shape Tool to create even more effects 12
