College Trends • In the high school class of 2005 there were more than 3,000,000 graduates, more graduates than the “ Baby Boomer” generation. This generation is called the Baby Boomer Echo • In that generation 50% of high school graduates went to college • Today ,70% of high school graduates go to college • Colleges have not increased the size of their classes to accommodate the increase in the number of students who want to attend • The number of graduates plateaus until the class of 2017
College Trends • More applications are submitted by each applicant. Over 70% are submitting three or more applications. • Family incomes increased by 127% since 1980 alternatively college tuition increased by 375%. • Colleges are rated by the number of students who applied and were rejected.
