  1. Introduction • Monkeynastix is a fun, holistic movement education programme for children between the ages of 1 and 8 years. • Monkeynastix develops health, fitness and social integration and contributes towards physical, cognitive and psychological well-being. • It is a dynamic programme that is continually adapting and improving to keep pace with the demands placed on us by our modern lifestyle. Dion Chang, a renowned trend analyst, recently presented ‘6 Trends of 2016’ at a Monkeynastix conference. This provided us with insight into the challenges that parents face with the ever increasing sedentary nature of today’s youth and the growing importance of Monkeynastix in children’s lives. • Monkeynastix is the pioneer of movement education in South Africa and internationally.

  2. 23 Years of Experience • Dirk Cilliers is the founder and owner, Monkeynastix International (Pty) Ltd. Dirk studied Specialized Children Movement in Holland at the Royal Dutch Gymnastics Federation in 1994. • Monkeynastix was established in South Africa in 1995. • The first international Monkeynastix franchise was opened in 1998. • 21 years old this year and now in 20 countries, Monkeynastix has over 100 franchises across the world!

  3. Our Programme • Our creative and engaging approach to movement encourages children to learn and develop in a safe, FUNtastic environment! • Movement activities make up an indispensable contribution to the development of children as a whole. It prepares them not only for their formal education but also their sport at school. • There are 19 aspects of development that Monkeynastix concentrates on. Each and every Monkeynastix class/activity develops one or more of these aspects. However each and every Monkeynastix lesson will focus on a particular aspect for that class. (Please see a list of these 19 aspects and their definitions in the appendix). • As all of the 19 aspects are developed to some degree in every Monkeynastix activity/skill performed, Monkeynastix in consultation with numerous experts in the field of movement education have identified 6 aspects that we have called “Monkeynastix Themes”. We focus on and have developed our lesson plans around these themes.

  5. How Does Monkeynastix Work? • Monkeynastix offers three separate curriculums for ages 1-2, 3-6 and 7-8. • Why these age groups? • Maximum window of Motor Development. Described as a period when learning of a new skill is easier and quicker than any other area in a child’s life. The maximum window of opportunity for fundamental skills such as gross motor and fine motor is between the ages of 1 – 8 years. • After 7/8 years old, children enter the sport skill development phase of their lives. • A qualified instructor will come to your school to run one fun-filled session per week. • Sessions run for 30 minutes, and consist of the following: • Warm Up: Body Positions, Music, Locomotion Activity • Main Activity: The main pieces of equipment plus sub-stations • Ending Activity: Fun, fun, fun! • To get the maximum benefit out of our programme, our members are encouraged to complete at least one Monkeynastix cycle of two years. • Please see the following slide for the lesson plan summary for the 1st term of 2018:

  7. Positive Reinforcement through Recognition • We believe in rewarding children to build their self-esteem: • Each child receives a special sticker or hand-out at the end of every session. • A Monkeynastix participation certificate will be awarded to your child at the end of each term. • At the end of each year, your child will receive an awesome Monkeynastix medal. • Learning healthy living habits can be fun! At Monkeynastix, we reinforce what teachers are doing at schools and parents are doing at home by incorporating the following into our sessions: • Emotional intelligence (e.g. respect for yourself and others). • Social skills e.g. Good manners (e.g. please and thank you, waiting your turn). • Environmental awareness (e.g. conserve water). • Healthy habits (e.g. brushing teeth, sun protection, and hygiene).

  8. Fee Options for 2019 Option 2: The entire School does Monkeynastix at a reduced rate which is included in the school fees. This fee is paid by the school to Monkeynastix on a monthly basis for 12 months of the year. The annual registration fee is due by 31st January 2016 and must be paid by the parent. The monthly fee is payable in the 1st week of each month and is paid directly into the Monkeynastix bank account by the school. The 10% rebate does not apply to schools on a discounted rate. They may however, choose a sponsor child for every 20 children that join the school and Monkeynastix. Option 1: For each individual child that joins Monkeynastix, the parent pays Monkeynastix both the annual registration fee and a term fee. The annual registration fee is payable in the 1st week of term 1 and the term fee is payable in the 1st week of each term. The school can either receive a 10% rebate on 10 + children or they can choose a sponsor child for every 10 children that join Monkeynastix.

  9. R190.00 Annual Registration Fee Includes: • A t-shirt, a sticker with every class, 2 x novelty items (such as a cap and tattoo) each year, a certificate at the end of each term + a skills certificate at the end of each year (only children over 3 years) and a medal.

  10. Equipment • Our equipment is a key component in the success of a Monkeynastix class. It is also what the children often enjoy most. A multitude of different skills/activities can be performed on each piece of equipment. A combination of pieces of equipment or additions to equipment allow children to progress and ultimately master a skill. • The equipment below just gives you an idea of the equipment that Monkeynastix. There is so much more!
