The Human Development Index (HDI) is a summary composite index that measures a country's average achievements in three basic aspects of human development: health, knowledge, and a decent standard of living.
It is a standard means of measuring well-being. It is used to determine and indicate whether a country is a developed, developing or underdeveloped country.
It is also used to measure the impact of economic policies on quality of life.
