  2. Migrating • 50-100 miles in a day of migrating. • Monarch butterflies migrate 2,000-3,000 miles per hour. • They sometimes migrate in winter. • The butterflies migration is 2,800- 275,000 miles.

  3. Predators • Spiders prey on butterflies. • Orioles hunt the butterflies. • Preying mantis hunt the butterflies. • Fire ants nibble on the butterflies

  4. Lifecycle • First the mother lays the eggs • The mother dies after she lays the eggs • The egg hatches and the caterpillar eats the shell • Once the caterpillar gets big he forms silk • Then he makes his chrysalis and stay in 10 to 12 days • Then it becomes a colorful butterfly

  5. Habitats • They live in Mexican trees. • They live in northern and central America. • They also live in pine trees. • Monarchs go to the oyamel forest in winter.

  6. Food • Monarchs drink nectar. • Monarchs eat milkweed. • Monarchs like to eat their egg shell.
