  2. What is an –ER Verb ? • An –ER verb is a ‘doing word’ that ends in –ER. • Eg: acheter to buy aimer to like écouter to listen habiter to live

  3. How do you form the present tense of –ER verbs? • It is very easy! • All you need to do is remember 5 easy steps...

  4. STEP 1 • Chose you –ER verb and write it down: DANSER (to dance)

  5. STEP 2 • Take off the –ER ending. • You are left with THE STEM. ‘DANS’ (this is your stem)

  6. STEP 3 • Write the 9 subjects of your verb: • Je • Tu • Il • Elle • On • Nous • Vous • Ils • Elles • I • You (informal) • He • She • One / Someone • We • You (formal / group) • They (masculine) • They (feminine)

  7. STEP 4 • Write the stem next to your 9 subjects: • Je dans • Tu dans • Il dans • Elle dans • On dans • Nous dans • Vous dans • Ils dans • Elles dans

  8. STEP 5 • Write the present tense endings at the end of the stem. • Je danse • Tu danses • Il danse • Elle danse • On danse • Nous dansons • Vous dansez • Ils dansent • Elles dansent
