  4. How are we going to do this? • General structure outline • Questions on general structure • Discuss the motion • Vote on the motion • Options outline • Questions on options • Discuss the options • Vote on the options

  5. Background NSA was mandated to undertake the review in November 2009: • Napier University (Scotland) Order of Council 1993 7(5): „The Association shall have power, with the approval of Court, to determine its own constitution and functions...” • Minutes of Student Affairs Committee (4/06/09) 4.2: “...steps are being explored to conduct an infrequent, but major reviewof the NSA Constitution...” • The charities regulator expressed concerns • NSA Constitution has not been reviewed in full for more than 5 years. • Concerns have been identified by members and non- members.

  6. Why is this so important? • NSA needs to follow best practice and have fit for purpose constitution to be able to best serve its members. • OSCR (the charity regulator) is pressing for changes and for NSA to stick to the review timescales. • The University governors expect the new structure to be presented to them in June for approval. • The new sabbatical team has to have their time released for pressing campaigns, e.g. HE and NSA funding campaign.
