  3. Summary • 16th century • Marquis von Posa fights for rights • against intrigues at the royal household and absolutism • Political conflicts in the Netherlands • Posa wants D. Carlos to go there,but Carlos is not interested • Prince D. Carlos meets his step mother • loves her, but she dedicated her live to the king, wants him to do the same

  4. D. Carlos asks his father togo to the Netherlands • not allowed  incompetent • Carlos receives a love letter • thinks it is from the queen, but it‘s from Eboli • while meeting • she gives him a letter • has to marry prince Silva • plans revenge because he loves the queen

Alba and Domingo ask Eboli to steal the queen‘s letters • King gets to know about secret meeting between Carlos and his wife;rumours that king isn‘t the father of queen‘s daughter • King decides: Carlos and Queen have to die • King mistrusts his consultants • new one: Posa, who actually wants to make a complot against the king

  6. Posa takes Carlos‘ letters • gives the one from Eboli to the king and wants the absolutepower • Carlos is told about the cooperation between the King and Posa disappointed • tries to speak Eboli, but is arrested • Eboli tells the queen the truth, begs for forgivness

Queen goes to Posa • Posa tells his plan: he pretends he is the one who loved the queen to save Carlosrealizes his plan by sending a letter • Posa visits Carlos in prison • Posa is murdered • people demonstrate for Carlos‘ freedom • the King and the grand inquisitor want his death • Carlos goes to the queen‘s room • is given to the grand inquisitor by the king

  9. lifeof Friedrich Schiller • born on 10th November 1759 in Marbach • raised in Marbach, Lorch and Ludwigsburg • Educated in a military school • Started to studies Law and later medicine by reason of his parents  was suppressed • Ran away to be a dramatist, how he always wanted to be • Wrote plays for the theatre and found a publisher for his works

  10. 1789: got an unpaid professorship at the university of jena • 1790 he married Charlotte von Lengefeld; got 4 Children • Since 1794 a close friend to Johann Wolfgang Goethe • In 1802 he was appointed to the nobility • An acute lung inflammation finally leads on 09 May 1805 to his early death.
