  2. If you have a toddler at home and he has started attending his school then you must have heard the term “learning style”. This term is used to describe how a child learns. For example, in child Care, centers many kids learn the best visually while others learned the best through handsome experiences. Kids are unique, they have their strengths and limitations so they learn through various methods – sight, touch, etc. Labeling kids as having one learning style would be accurate and limiting. A much better way to understand the individual ways of how kids learn is to apply the concept of “multiple intelligences”.

According to this theory, there are 8 dimensions of intelligence, and every child is gifted with all 8 kinds of intelligence. But, predominant intelligence is usually one or two.  The 8 dimensions of Multiple Intelligences: Here, you can find the main characteristics of all the 8 kinds of intelligence that can help you to identify the predominant intelligence in your child.

  4. Visual-Spatial (picture-smart): These children on high on imagination. They light to draw, great pictures, read maps, and daydream. Bodily-Kinesthetic (body-smart): These children show a lot of body movement and like to get up and move around a lot. They enjoy dancing and other similar activities and can use their body to accomplish a task. These kids mostly used hair gross and fine motor skills. Musical (music-smart): These children show a fondness for rhyme and music. They work better with music playing in the background. Their inclination towards music helps them learn how to play musical instruments and they can master the art easily than others.

  5. Natural (nature-smart): The children love nature and able to appreciate the natural beauty. They prefer to be in a place that is surrounded by plants and other natural resources. Interpersonal (people smart): These children are born with the ability to interact well with others. Better when they are in a group and are communicating with others. They make friends love to talk and influence others. Intrapersonal (self-smart): Day Care teachers have observed that these children like to be on their own. They understand what they need, enjoy solitude, and are dreamers.

  6. Linguistic (word smart): These children know how to words effectively. Normally they are good speakers, enjoy rhymes, and love listening to stories. Logical-mathematical (logic-smart): These children are good at thinking, assessing, solving problems, puzzles, and riddles. They love to investigate and analyze things to learn concepts. Being aware of Multiple Intelligence is very important if you want holistic development for your children. This will help you to guide and assist them enhance their strengths and work on their limitations.
