  2. Purpose • Alchemy was created by doctors and mathematicians of the 16th/17th centuries. Alchemy included different healing methods as well as transformation base metals, such as iron and copper, into gold. Alchemy was also created for different methods of healing.

  4. Misconceptions • Alchemy was thought to be a type of witchcraft, people were unable to understand how a man could transform something as worthless as iron into something as valuable as gold. People thought that alchemists obtained their powers from the devil.
