  3. Main Mangrove Problem in the Study Area reclamation (ie. expansion of human settlements) conversion of mangrove areas for shrimp and fish farming charcoal factories Aim of the study is Field verification controlled with Image PDA-BT GPS

Data - LPI, Lingkungan Pantai Indonesia (Indonesian Coastal Environment) Maps scale 1:50.000 - Landsat Image captured 2001 path/row 125/59 - Aster Image captured 2007 Equipment Desktop PC computer as digital image processing in laboratory with ErMapper, ENVI and GIS Software ArcView 3.3 HP-iPaq PDA - Bluetooth GPS as input hardware on the field, with ArcPad Software Aquapac Waterproof

  6. In the Lab Image Processing - Geometric Correction - Color Composite - Cropping - NDVI

  7. Digitizing Process Visual interpretation of mangrove with RGB 452 for Landsat or RGB 352 Aster

  8. Result digitized shapefile, import to ER Mapper, to crop Mangrove Area and apply the NDVI Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), it is possible to determine mangrove to be three density class is low, moderate and high

  9. Vectorization from ER Mapper using ENVI and export back to shapefile

  10. Shapefile convert to GeoJPG recognized by ArcPad

  11. Upload the GeoJPG to PDA Activate BT-GPS Define the attribut (Sample number, Photo number, Density of Mangrove, Density Class)

  12. Conclusion The ArcPad software has proven to be useful during study, it is much better than the traditional Handheld GPS. We can not only navigate with this tool, but also can input the attribute of object. Next step is using ArcPad Studio to make faster survey
