In October 2004, ECOWAS Health Ministers called for a regional strategy for RHCS and "informed buying" platform. WAHO, with partners like USAID, World Bank, and UNFPA, mobilized support. Preliminary consultations show countries seek better market intelligence and resources for implementation. The strategy will identify actors, focus on WAHO's role, and be flexible for donor support mechanisms. Various support efforts include bilateral programs, thematic trust fund, and ongoing technical assistance.
