  6. Music/Recreation Activities • Music and dancing are and essential part of Cuba’s cutler. • The rumba, mambo, and cha-cha dance originated in Cuba.

  7. Transportation • In the city, they will travel by bicycle or a crowded buses. • In the country, they used carts plod by a horses. • People often use trains or buses to get from city to another. • Cuba has more motorcycles then cars.

  8. Because of the influence of communism, Cuba has been among the least religious of the Latin American country. They have a church called the Roman Catholic church which is the largest organized. They left because of Fidel Castro and to get across they would turn to smugglers or fly to Mexico and try to get across. They came when Spain and Christopher Columbus came but there were already native people there. religion/immigration and migration

  13. History • Columbus came in 1492. • Taino people were there • 1511 in Spanish colony started . Wiped out the Taino people. • 1762 British took control of Havana. • Traded Cuba for Florida • 1898 Spanish American war Cuba gains independence. • 1902 US leaves officially but investments still important • Nineteen fifties Fidel Castro takes over . Communist government • Problems with the U.S.- trade cut off . • Better education health and social security • Relations with US getting better until two planes were shot down by Cuba in 1996.

  14. Agriculture and industries • Farming cooperatives • Increase so a bean production for protein. • Self employment • Reorganize state • Foreign help in tourism, mining communications and construction • 20% of labor forces is in agriculture
