  3. From adversity, creativity… • Kalundborg, Denmark “industrial symbiosis” - 6 major companies • “waste = food” • Cut water use 25% and oil use by 20,000 tons/ year

  4. Blinding flashes of the obvious St. Lawrence County NY, late 1990s • Under-employed farmers • Under-utilized farmland • Millions of dollars in local banks • Importing chickens!!!!!!!!

  5. And in the Hudson Valley… • Underemployed communications and marketing professionals • Green living chic • Vast quantities of energy-guzzling housing stock • Energy-efficiency services - inefficiently delivered
