What is the project about: • Development of a web-based software tool to enhance the visibility and connectivity across the supply chain • Tool will integrate existing services and facilitate data exchange among supply chain stakeholders in order to optimize their operations • The tool will be tested and validated in 12 real-world living-labs with pre-defined business cases IRU Projects objective in AEOLIX: • Analyze current status quo of freight transport and logistics in Europe • Analyze and test the potential of eCMR solution

Upcoming eCMR pilots in AEOLIX Five (5) IRU members joined the project as official partners as of June 2018 to perform project-based activities: • Implement and monitor eCMR pilots • Train pilot participants in the use of eCMR • Conduct market study of eCMR potential • Organize local eCMR related dissemination events • Study data sharing, legal and insurance issues related to eCMR deployment

Living Lab 12 at a glance Establishment of a new Living Lab – 12 in order to: Showcase the potential of digitalization in transport Showcase its contribution in increasing the visibility across the supply chain of national and cross-border operations across Europe through the use of digital freight transport documents Pilot deployment of e-CMR solution in real-world cases (400 operations)

Foreseen impacts Reduction of administration work due to • reduced data entry, • no paper handling, • no fax/letter/scan exchanges, • no archiving, • faster invoicing, • real-time access to information and • proof of pick-up and delivery. Expected reduction: 3 to 4 times less effort to be evaluated in temporal and monetary KPIs.

  10. Foreseen impacts Reduced inspection time due to • faster access to information, • faster back-end research and • cross-check on behalf of road authorities. Expected reduction: up to 7% less time on the overall transport (from pick-up to delivery and finally to invoicing) - be evaluated in digital vs. paper-based operations during LL operations

  11. Foreseen impacts 3. Environmental friendlier operations due to • less sheets of paper issued and carried. Expected reduction: Only regarding vehicles transport, 135 tones of wood are used for the paper documents carried.

Pilot insights • All technology is already available so there is no need for further technical developments • For all pilots we will use paper print-out of the eCMR as well (to avoid issues with road authorities) • The pilot will not cost any money forMinistries or other authorities! • Accession to eCMRis not mandatory before pilots can start • Pilots are not mandatory before eCMRaccession • Opportunity to support and speed up the ratification of eCMRin your country

  14. Steps to follow in order to be part of the pilot 1. Get training on the Transport Portal and the eCMR application from UNTRR 2. Ask questions – propose improvements 3. Start the pilot on February 2019 4. Ask questions – propose improvements 5. Keep track of the data from the pilot and give feedback to UNTRR 6. When the pilot ends, the results will feed the studies that UNTRR will conduct and will be delivered to the EC 7. Get all the experience and improve your efficiency!
