The Good: Met, LA FF, SD FF • The Met is scheduled to come online beginning in late October • Staggered implementation • 18 million new fluoridated customers • We will recommend suspension of all Rx fluoride supplements for one year! • Systems will have time to measure levels • Local health officers and State will remind DDS and MDs when to begin again

6. More good news…. • Los Angeles First Five Commission • Appointed commission to study the issue • Is presently considering awarding up to $20 million • Will take a vote on spending the $$ in Sept. • $$ will be awarded first to cities that are ready to go: • Inglewood • Compton • Torrance

7. Finally……. • San Diego First Five Commission • Held a meeting to discuss an award amount • May commit as much as $10 million • $$ will be spent to optimize cities in the County that will be suboptimal • City of San Diego will continue to be largest city in US that is not fluoridated • 1954 ordinance • Legal precedence to overturn in W’ville • City council vote vs popular vote

8. THE BAD NEWS…. • There is a shortage of fluoride in the country • Several of the systems downstream from Met’s 26 member agencies will not be optimal • There are actually about 400 end user systems-many of which will be suboptimal • LA FF $$ will be used to optimize many of these systems • Only those cities that purchase 100% Met water will be optimum ( Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Long Beach, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Escondido, et al) • City of San Diego will still have no fluoride • They don’t purchase much Met water.

Studies prove that fluoride causes more cavities, more drilling, more filling, more billing.  Studies prove that all kinds of health problems are the cause of fluoride.  Many people are victims of fluoride poisoning.   Read the many horror stories.......also read "The Fluoride Deception" by Chris Bryson.  TO ALL:   DAVID NELSON,  YOU LIAR! Every one cent spent on fluoridation costs more than Three times $120 for teeth repair....that obviously makes YOU happy!  I am proof!  I am a victim of fluoride poisoning, and it didn't take much!   You pay for ALL the repair on my teeth because of fluoride!  Send me a check!!  Plus all the health problems I have, and NO medical insurance!  You bastard! Latest anti-fluoridationist activities • Trying desperately to stall the Met • Meeting Aug. 20 in LA, their last hurrah! • Determined that 64,000 children in SoCal will be damaged if Met fluoridates • “New information” from the EWG and other studies • Sued Dr. Gerberding and Dr. Maas at CDC • CDC continues to endorse fluoridation when they know its so dangerous • CDC is not telling the American Public the truth • Submitted sigs of 600 Healthcare Professionals to Congress • Call for a congressionalinvestigation of fluoridation • Threatened the Met member agencies with lawsuits if they fluoridate

16. THE ADA/BABY FORMULA ISSUE • Another great example of “twisted” science by the antifluoridationists • The WARNING issue • ADA has never said “Don’t use fl H2O to reconstitute infant formula” • Slight risk of mild to very mild fluorosis • Balance that against the risk of caries in our populations

THE FLUORIDATION/CANCER ISSUE • Antis warn the public that fluoridation causes osteosarcoma in young boys • Author herself warns against drawing any conclusions from her study • 2 Part study, second part does not seem to replicate first part results • Her mentor cautions not to base any policy changes on this very preliminary study! Wait until the results of the second part are in.
