  2. What is an Eco-Friendly Product? The Conservation Value Institute defines green products as “products, services, and practices whose manufacturing, purchase and use allows for economic development while still conserving, for future generations.” Eco-Friendly Products Must Support: • The earth’s biological diversity and supporting ecological processes • The components of our economy and quality of life that require natural resources and depend on nature’s services

Crazy Crayons: The Eco-Friendly Choice! • Made of 100% recycled materials • National Crayon Recycle Program • Collected from various schools and households nationwide • March 2011: Collected over 62,000 pounds of unwanted, used crayons! • Designed to prevent unnecessary amount of petroleum-based wax material from building up in landfills Core Philosophy: “Save the Earth, One Crayon at a Time.”

  4. Why YOU Should Use Recycled Crayons! • Promotes and educates users about sustainability • Conserves natural resources • Help eliminate unnecessary use of land fills • Implement the idea of recycling in all aspects of life • Lessen environmental stress • Be a role model for future generations

  7. Pre-Evaluation • Two members evaluated the Crazy Crayons • Findings: • Crazy Crayons didn’t color neatly • Crazy Crayons left a waxy residue • Crazy Crayons were hard to hold • Crayolacrayons were easier to hold and were smoother to the touch

  8. Focus Group Findings • At first the focus group was intrigued • Intrigue turned to contempt • Consumers felt the crayons were too: • Bulky • Dull in color • Waxy in texture • EXPENSIVE

  9. THE BROWN EXPERIMENT Dr. Brown Pros: Do not seem to break as easy Write nicely They are cool because they are different They sound cool when you click them together Cons: Do not like the shape, hard to hold Do not like the smell Leave a waxy feeling on you hands Selection of colors is limited
