  1. FYP 14-15 Professor Soung Chang LIEW Presented by Dr. Patrick LAM of P2MT

  2. SCL3: VPLS over Wireless Mesh Network • Purpose: • Implementation of VPLS over a Wireless Mesh Network • Provided: • Multi-radio mesh routers with embedded Linux platform • Background: • Some knowledge of MPLS • Some knowledge of Wi-Fi based Wireless Mesh Networking • Deliverables: • Integrate some MPLS projects to some embedded Linux platform, and build a VPLS network from there • Project Scale: • 2 to 3 students

  3. SCL4: Automatic Transmission Power Management in a Wireless Mesh Network • Purpose: • Enable the APs in a Wireless Mesh Network to adjust their own transmission power based on the interference levels • Provided: • Multi-radio mesh routers with embedded Linux platform • Background: • Some knowledge of WiFi networking • Deliverables: • A technique that allows an AP to adjust its own transmission power level in order to reduce the overall interference in a wireless mesh network • Project Scale: • 1 to 2 students

  4. SCL5: Frequency Switching in Wireless Mesh Network backbone • Purpose: • Enable Frequency Switching in Wireless Mesh Network backbone when there is frequency jamming in a channel • Provided: • Multi-radio mesh routers with embedded Linux platform • Background: • Some knowledge of Wi-Fi networking • Deliverables: • A simple protocol that allows two mesh routers to switch to another frequency for future communications • A software module that: • detects frequency jamming (e.g. through RTT checking) • performs the above protocol when frequency jamming is detected • Project scale: 1 to 2 students

  5. SCL5: Frequency Switching in Wireless Mesh Network backbone
