  2. More than just a physical organ, the heart symbolizes the very center of our being.

  3. I Samuel 13:13,14

  4. “How foolish!” Samuel exclaimed. “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you.

  5. Had you kept it, the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.

  6. 14 But now your kingdom must end, for the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart.

  7. The Lord has already appointed him to be the leader of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.”

  8. What does it mean to be a person after God’s own heart?

  9. How do we cultivate a “Heart after God?”

  10. 1. There is complete honesty about sin.

  11. II Sam 12:13

  12. Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied, “Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin.

  14. People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.
