Finding and Using Slope

• What is Slope?
• Types of Slope
• How to find Slope
• Applications of Slope
• Conclusion
What is Slope?
• The slope of the line is a number determined by any two points on the line.
• The number describes how “steep” the line is.
• An example for slope would be the sides of the Great Pyramids of Egypt , skiing down the side of a mountain, the roof of a house, or a race track used in Nascaror Indy car racing.
Types of Slope
• There are four types of slope:
• 1. Positive Slope
• 2. Negative Slope
• 3. Zero Slope
• 4. Undefined Slope
How to find Slope
• Slope is denoted by the variable “m”
• Slope (m) can be found between two points by finding the “change in the y-coordinate (rise)” divided by the “change in the x-coordinate (run)”
• Use the formula: m = = =
