  2. Facts about the Vulcan 1. WPA Project 37-1465 was estimated to employ 114 men for six months. The WPA grant covered all costs but design and road construction 2. Between the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Mo. and moving to Red Mountain, Vulcan stayed at the Alabama State Fairgrounds

  3. More Facts About the Vulcan 3.Vulcan was built in 1903 by 114 men . 4. Vulcan is the world's largest cast-iron statue. 5. By 1999, Vulcan needed a great repair. They closed the surrounding park and took Vulcan down, only to put him right back up.
