  • How come? Why use the masculine mon if it’s a feminine word?
  • As écolebegins with a vowel, you can’t use ma as the 2 vowels would clash! Instead we use the masculine MON
une ÉCOLE
comment dit on your

TON (masculine)

  • so what’s feminine?
  • TA
  • and plurals?
  • TES
Comment dit-on “your”?
comment dit on his et hers

SON (masculine)

  • so what’s feminine?
  • SA
  • and plurals?
  • SES
Comment dit-on “his” et “hers”?
t here s no separate words for his her then

That’s right!

  • It’s the gender or plural of the word you’re referring to that counts and not the person you’re talking about!
  • Therefore, SON chien can mean either HIS dog or HER dog!
  • SA mère means either his mum or her mum
There’s no separate words for his & her then?!!
