Bruce Springsteen As a teenager, John idolized Bruce Springsteen. While playing in a garage band, he met pianist David Bryan. The two of them formed the band Atlantic City Expressway. David Bryan
Jon formed a band with David, Tico Torres, Alec Such and Richie Sambora.
Derek Schulman, a record executive, signed them to PolyGram in 1983. Shulman was the one to suggest changing the band’s name to Bon Jovi.
The self-titled debut was out in January of 1984. The record went gold, and the band toured with the Scorpions, Kiss and Judas Priest. The third album, Slippery When Wet, went gold and platinum six weeks after its release. Fourteen million copies were sold.
The group continues to record and release albums. Jon also started an acting career in the 1990s. He has starred in Moonlight and Valentino (1995), Pay it Forward (2000) and U-571 (2000).
Jon married Dorothea Hurley, who is a karate instructor. They have four children: Stephanie, Jesse, Jacob and Romeo Jo.
