Exam Preparation---Overall suggestions How to prepare for the final exam? • Don’t cram • Get familiar with the exam guideline • Take the sample test as a mock exam • Review unit focal points (important vocabulary items) • Check unit’s objectives • Review your notes • Review the common mistakes you have made • Solve study problems by turning to tutors and peers for help

Exam Preparation: a demo on how to review a unit (2) Enrichment Reading 1 (Unit 8: Social Issues) Step 1 Check the unit objectives • read about one kind of crime: shoplifting, and the underlying reasons for it • read about the dispute between a couple and the Social Services Department over the adoption of two little girls in Britain • Do extra reading on the school violence in America and how one school handles this problem • Do some fast reading tasks:reading for gist and for information, inferring word meanings from context, and note-taking • Learn, review and practice the use of some verbs and verb phrases
