Department of Health and Human Services ASPR Hospital Preparedness Program • 2002 – 2017+ Dedicated federal emergency preparedness funding to medical health (HRSA/ASPR/HPP) • Improve surge capacity • Enhance community and hospital preparedness for public health emergencies • Funding can cover: • Exercises and improving preparedness plans • Increasing bed capacity • Improving interoperable communications • Tracking resources (equipment, beds, pharmaceuticals) • Developing volunteer systems and processes • Protecting healthcare workers • Education and training • Evacuation and Shelter in place plans

Geographic Details: • 2,077 square miles • Diverse race and ethnicity • 27 Hospital Partners • One Level I and SevenLevel II trauma centers • Two burn surge facilities • 73 Licensed Long Term Care facilities • Home Care, Hospice, Dialysis, Health Centers, etc. • Four major highways • Major international bridge crossing • Numerous colleges and major university • Home to Chrysler/Fiat Headquarters and the General Motors Technology Center • Includes Selfridge Air National Guard Base and Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) • Major sporting event enter (Palace) • Several major outdoor entertainment venues Bad things happening impact lots of people

Region 2 North Healthcare CoalitionPurpose Collaborative network of healthcare organizations and their public and private response partners Serves as a multiagency coordinating group (MAC) Assists in emergency preparedness including Planning Organizing and Equipping Training, Exercises and Evaluation Assists in response as MAC in medical communication and coordination
