The Legend of Cross-over Bridge Rice-noodles 过桥米线的传说
过桥米线的传说 传说清代有一秀才在南湖的湖心小岛念书，秀才妻每日都要通过石砌的小桥给夫送饭。一日，妻子念丈夫读书辛苦，炖了一只又肥又壮的母鸡，装入罐中，正准备把饭送给丈夫，但因有要事未能按时送去。当她办完事后，发现汤罐还是热乎乎的，原来是厚厚的一层黄油覆盖汤面，起到了隔热作用。于是便穿小道，走石桥，送到丈夫身边，将米线往热鸡汤里浸泡后，随即捞出放入碗里，秀才吃了十分满意。人们为了赞誉这位妻子，便将这种食品取名“过桥米线”。
The legend of Cross-over Bridge rice-noodles In the Qing dynasty, there was a scholar studied in the island of Nanhu lake. His wife delivered food to him through a bridge everyday. One day, the wife thought about his husband was learning so hard, so she chose a fat hen and cooked for her husband. But there were something needed to do and she couldn’t deliver the food on time. Later she found that the cooked chicken in a pot was still warm, because of a thick layer of oil covered the chicken and soup. Then she walked to her husband through a stone bridge delivered the chicken pot. She put rice-noodles in the delicious and still warm chicken soup. Her husband was satisfied with the food. From then on, for praising the wife, people called the rice-noodles “Cross-over Bridge Rice-noodles".
The Legend of Da Jiujia 大救驾的传说
Da Jiujia is one of local foods of Yunnan. it is made of rice. According to an ancient legend, barley food production in ancient time referred to as "cake", such as “rice bait”. Yunnan folk used “rice bait” as gift of food. People also call it “bait block”.
大救驾的传说 • 据传，清初，吴三桂率清军打进昆明，明朝永历皇帝逃往滇西，清军紧追不舍。农民起义军领袖李定国命大将靳统武护送永历皇帝至腾冲，当时天色已晚，此一行人走了一天山路，疲惫不堪，饥饿难忍。找到一处歇脚之地后，主人图快，炒了一盘饵块送上。永历皇帝吃后赞不绝口地说：“炒饵块救了朕的大驾。”从此，腾冲炒饵块改名为“大救驾”。
The legend story There was a general Wu Sangui of Qing dynasty. He lead his army to attack on Kunming. The emperor of Ming ran away to the western of Yunnan. The leader of peasantries Li Dingguo protected the emperor . They crossed mountains all day and all night. When they came to a small village, it was already late. They were so tired and hungry. A house host cooked a plate of bait block quickly to serve the emperor. After the meal, the emperor said: “The bait block saved me!" From then on, the pan-fried bait block renamed “Da Jiujia".

The variety of Yunnan foods are just like the variety of local flowers. The Water CaoYa, Shibing Bean Curd, Mengzi Rice Pudding, Crossover Bridge Rice-vermicelli, Beans Flower, Hot Chicken, Crisp Red Bean, etc. are always there for the local citizens and tourists. • In western Yunnan Dali area, you also don‘t want to miss the Earth Fish, Lijiang Drizzle, Lijiang BaBa. The Eight Bowls, Coil Hoof, Dried Liver, the Da Jiujia Fried Bait Block, and all kinds of cold potherbs are all delicious too.
