  2. Classroom resourcesand Schemes of Work

  3. QCA Scheme of Work • Available in hard copy and online • 24 Units of work with in-built progression • Individual lessons within topical unit plans • Follows the Framework objectives • Commercial and free resources to support • Very ‘content-heavy’ • Lots of vocabulary • Lots of resourcing may be needed

  4. Catherine Cheater Scheme • Available in hard copy Y3-Y6 • Powerpoints and soundfiles to support teachers • Skill-based rather than topics • Written by co-author of KS2 Framework • Practice parcels for follow-up sessions • Too much content in each lesson plan* • Additional resources expensive • May not suit some mixed-age classes

  5. Other Schemes of work • Early Start French – KS1/Lower KS2 • Tout Le Monde – online resource • Babelzone – online resource (follows QCA units) • Petit Pont – CD Rom resource

  6. Web resources • http://hampshirelanguages.wikispaces.com • http://www.hantswizkid.net (user login req’d) • http://www.linguascope.com(subscription req’d) • http://www.atantot.co.uk (subscription) • http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryfrench

  7. Investigating resources • In pairs choose one SoW and at least one other resource to look at. • Consider if/how you could use it and its merits (or otherwise!) • Be prepared to feed back your thoughts to the group!
