  15. UTILIZING CANAREES The CANAREES report should be encrypted and electronically submitted to the NMCP-CANAREES team which includes a representative from Portsmouth Family Advocacy Program. Confidential and privileged quality assurance material under 10 USC 1102.

  16. UTILIZING CANAREES • CANAREES is NOT a substitution for Child Protective Services reporting. You must CALL CPS to make your report. • In Virginia, all HCP’s who suspect that a child has been abused or neglected shall report the matter immediately to the Child Protective Service agency where the child resides or where the abuse or neglect is believed to have occurred. The Virginia statute requiring HCP’s to report adult abuse, neglect or exploitation parallels the child abuse statute. Confidential and privileged quality assurance material under 10 USC 1102.

  17. QUESTIONS? The HCP is responsible for determining imminent risk for domestic abuse cases and shall contact the FAP DAVA (Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate) for guidance if uncertain about determining imminent risk. The DAVA is considered the expert in cases of domestic abuse and has the ability to transport victims to court and shelters and to assist with legal proceedings. The DAVA is available during the work day at 444-2230 and after hours at 438-4180. *Please see DoD Instruction 6400.06 for additional information.* Confidential and privileged quality assurance material under 10 USC 1102.
