Paint the Town Red • AIDS2014, the largest health-related conference in the world is coming to Melbourne in July 2014 • Over 14,000 delegates attending • Over 1,200 international media attending • Melbourne’s role as ‘host city’ is to develop and deliver a city activation program that showcases the best of the city’s art, culture, sport, retail, business, public conversation and education sectors • Over 80 partners currently participating in the program • Estimated economic impact for Melbourne - $80million + • Collaboration between State and Local Governments to bring the conference to Melbourne

Paint the Town Red • One of the city’s feature projects is turning iconic and prominent buildings and public spaces red for the duration of the conference. • Partners confirmed to date include: • * The Arts Centre spire * Royal Exhibition Building • * Hamer Hall * Melbourne Museum • * Eureka Tower * Myer • * Parliament House * The Emporium • * Old Treasury Building * Town Hall • * Melbourne University * GPO Building • * St Paul’s Cathedral * Federation Square • * Princes Bridge * St Kilda Road trees • * Public fountains * Melb Convention & Exhibition Centre • * Queen Victoria Market * State Library

Paint the Town Red • Purpose of the activation • Showcase Melbourne’s support for the search for a cure for HIV/AIDS • Demonstrate how successfully Melbourne collectively comes together as a city around special events • Reach out to building owners and landlords to participate even though they may have no direct connection to the Conference
